Best PS3 Prices
Have you ever tried to find a PS3 on sale? If you do see them on sale it’s not much off the regular price. It can be discouraging if you’re trying to save a few bucks.
I’m right there with you! The justifcation for the purchase may have been difficult in the beginning but there was plenty of it in the end. To start building a PS3 fund I thought I would begin by selling my old PS2 games. I’ve thought about going through my closet and digging out my old jeans to see what they might fetch on eBay. I even cleaned out the garage scrounging for old tools and junk that I haven’t used in years so I could sell them on eBay. We even had a yard sale so I could try to earn enough money to buy the PS3. Not including my time I made about $50. I don’t recommend garage sales as you’ll end up getting less money for your stuff! You’ll make much more money selling your stuff on eBay.
In days gone by I felt the same way. With all the available accessories, games and hi-tech features you really get more bang for your buck with the PS3. The fact that it is Blu-Ray is a huge selling point for me. I could not only play HD games on it but I could now watch all my movies in HD as well. That’s a hard-sell to the wife! If you’re not already hooked on HD it only takes 1 day of having it in your house and you’ll never go back. At the end of the day it turned out to be easy to persuade her to get the PS3 on every front except the price.
I’ve done some research and what I’ve found is that if you want the best gaming console on the market and you want to play Blu-Ray DVDs there simply isn’t a better value than the PS3. Even when it’s not on sale! You’ll spend $200-250 bucks on a basic Blu-Ray player anyway. Unfortunately for Microsoft, HD-DVD was not the chosen format going forward and this will ultimately hurt their sales. The real issue is getting a PS3, if at all possible, at a discount.
I searched on eBay and some other traditional auction sites and found that there really aren’t any PS3 Sale Prices out there. You have to spend more than you normally would and get a “bundle” to really get the value. When I’m trying to spend as little money as possible this just doesn’t work for me.
In the end I had to get outside the box. I started investigating unique bid auction sites. There are a few decent ones out there but the one that stands out to me is www.auctions4acause.com. They have more everyday items available for auction, including the PS3, than any of the other sites. You’ll find cars, boats and vacations on the other sites. That’s fine and dandy but I just want the console!
After I found that site I know it was exactly what I needed. They had the item I wanted and it was possible for me to get it very cheap. I cruised on over to their site an account. I made 3 entries and hoped I had outsmarted the other bidders. I was only slightly discouraged when I didn’t win the first time. I waited a week before another one came available to bid on. I placed 3 more bids on it and crossed my fingers and waited. Bingo! I won this time. 1 week later I was unboxing my new PS3. All told I had bid less than $59.64. Not too shabby, huh?
It can take a few minutes of reading to truly grasp the concept of the lowest unique bid auction style. Once you get a handle on the concept you may not want to stop. Since that time that I won the PS3 I’ve bid on and won 3 other items including an iPod Nano (they have the best iPod Prices) and $400 gas card. I’m getting about 4 to 1 on my money so far with $1,200 in items for less than $360 in bidding.
I wouldn’t suggest the big box stores to find the best prices. Create an account at Auctions4aCause and see what kind of deal you can get.
