Fold’N'Stow vs LEVO Book Stand Designs
A book stand is a valuable accessory for every true lover of books. Currently sole types vary from simple wire creations like the Fold’N'Stow that supports a book at user selectable angles on virtually any flat surface, to the ultimately sophisticated LEVO Bookholder that embraces a book or other reading material in either a floor standing model or a clamp-on design that securely fastens to any table, desk, or counter top. Most book stand designs function well with hard cover books, but most also can function quite nicely with paperbacks held in book holders like an OpenPage.
The Fold’N'Stow is one of the most affordable of book stands. It folds compactly for easy storage and transport and is sold with it’s own plastic pouch designed for easy placement in a three ring binder. It can be positioned on a countertop for cook books, or the top of your desk, table, workstation, bench, etc. Wire arms with page holders extend from the back to hold the covers and open pages of your book, and, by moving the arms either closer together or farther apart, smaller and larger books are readily accommodated. The back of the stand also has horizontal pieces that can be moved to adjust the angle at which the book is held relative to the surface upon which it is resting.
The LEVO’s most popular book stand is the LEVO floor stand model, which includes a weighted rolling base for ease of movement from chair side to bedside to desk side to beside the kitchen counter top. Wherever you choose to put it, it can hold your book in just about any position you can imagine. The LEVO Clamp-on model is just as convenient as the LEVO Floor Model, but features a clamp that securely attaches to any desk, table, counter top, work bench or other flat surface up to 2 inches thick, and offers the same movements as the floor stand model, without the range of vertical telescoping movements. By holding your book above the surface to which it is attached, the clamp on design saves the weight and expense of the weighted floor base while conserving valuable work space, since neither your book nor your book holder rest on the surface.
While there are other book stand designs now available, the Fold’N'Stow and LEVO book stands have stood the test of time and function well under heavy use.
