Underground Boring – An Innovative way of Drilling.

Directional Drilling is a non invasive technique to install conduits underground which will eventually be used for phone, gas, Television, electric or water. Initially directional drilling established by the oil industry in the United States, this unique strategy is these days widely used for all pressure pipes underneath major obstacles such as freeways, huge rivers, air-port runways and many others. A steerable drill bit of 90mm diameter is launched from the surface at 10′ -15′ and creates a pilot hole. This is followed by a 125mm washover pipe. Upon completion, the pilot string will be extracted and a rotating barrel reamer travels back along the washover pipe. Subsequent reaming continues until the actual necessary diameter is actually established. Drives of more than one thousand metres and upward to 1 metre in diameter have also been carried out.
