After a 41-year run, All My Children faded to black today – literally – airing it’s last broadcast episode on ABC. While many other soaps that have been canned in recent years felt the need to wrap up all of their stories for their legions of fans, AMC did quite the opposite.

The show’s finale found the entire cast gathered for a ~~farewell~~ welcome home party. In the final moments of the episode, the incomparable Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci, got the last words of the series, vowing to to go after the love of her life, Jack, who gave her the old Clark Gable heave-hoe one last time.

But just as she makes haste for true love, a drunken J.R. appears from the shadows, pointing a gun at the crowded room, filled to brim with all of Pine Valley’s residents.

The gun goes off and then, then … well, see for yourself!

Enjoy television history as we present to you that last ten minutes of All My Children ever to air on network TV (above).
